ARE THERE
ANY PRODUCTS
OR TREATMENTS
THAT STOP
HAIR LOSS?

The answer to this question is YES!

Who are treatments meant for? Take a good look at yourself in the mirror. Is there something about your hair you’re not happy with? If you answer yes to any of the following questions, we suggest a consultation.

Whether you are a man or a woman, this survey has you in mind.

  • Is your hair too thin?
  • Is hair missing from some areas?
  • Is the area over your forehead bald?
  • Is the crown the way you want it?
  • At the back, along the ring of hair below the crown, can you see the scalp?
  • Does your family have a history of inherited hair loss?
  • Have you received anesthesia during the last 6 months?
  • Have you been pregnant during the last 18 months?
  • Are you currently on a reducing diet?
  • Have you had any thyroid-related problems lately?

If you answered yes to any one of these questions, treatments are right for you.

IS THERE
A METHOD
FOR GROWING HAIR
ON BALD AREAS?

The answer to this question is YES!

Some bald areas of the scalp can recover hair coverage using a proven method—i.e., surgical transplant.

In this method, a physician removes hair located in the ring of hair below the top of the head and grafts them onto the bare areas. This hair will be about 6 cm after the first six months and are permanent—in other words, you will keep them for the rest of your life. For some individuals, it will take more than one transplant session to fully cover their baldness.

Prices vary between $2000 and a little over $4000, depending on the surface area to be covered.

In Province of Quebec, the costs of this intervention are tax-deductible.

The method used is called multi-unit micrografts.

Our advisors will be happy to answer your questions. If you want an appointment with one of them, the meeting will be an informal one, with no obligation on your part. Our consultations are free of charge. Contact us!

What products
or treatments
will you require?

We don’t know because we don’t know the status of your hair roots. Roots are the only living portion of hair.

Did you know that hairs have roots? Did you know that these roots are called bulbs? Did you know that the quality of hair depends on the quality of bulbs? Identifying the status of hair is directly related to the quality of bulbs.

Our clinic is equipped with a laboratory for analyzing these bulbs with special microscopes that enable us to differentiate the quality of each bulb.

We have 18 kinds of products, each of which is specific to various hair and scalp problems. We have a product for each case—i.e., one specifically for you. Depending on the case, we use:

  • High frequency
  • Laser therapy
  • Infrared
  • Products only (shampoos and lotions)

Why Is It Necessary
to Have a
Bulb Examination
Performed?

  • To establish the percentage of healthy and unhealthy hair.
  • To make an appropriate choice of treatments.
  • To measure the results—that is, analyze the difference between the status of hair between the first and the second examination and thereby determine if results are better, stable or worse.
  • To establish, prior to hair transplants, the percentage of hair that will have "effluvium" after the operation.

What products
do you offer?

the description
of one of our products:
"ANTIOLEUM"
Lotion for stopping hair loss.
Antioléum

95% of hair loss problems have an androgenetic (DHT-related) cause. 5% have some other origin.

The parameters used to qualify an androgenetic problem are:

  • Heredity
  • Major hair loss
  • Sebogenic effects (oily hair)
  • The presence of testosterone, which acts as a catalyst in the production of dihydrotestosterone (DHT)—the the only parameter we are unable to quantify

To counteract the sebogenic effects of DHT, we recommend ANTIOLEUM lotion, which contains pyridoxine. The benefits of pyridoxine were discovered in France during research on acne.

Antioleum® is registered under number TMA511,314 at the Canadian Intellectual Property Office, and is exclusively owned by us. This product has also been trademarked in the United States.

Guarantee
Keep your existing hair for life, if they are considered to be in good condition during a root examination and if follow-up is performed.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the most effective treatment for hair loss today?
There is no easy answer for hair loss, such as aspirin for headache.  Everything depends on the reasons the hair loss is occurring.  Your overall health, your age and sex – these all must be taken into consideration.  You can be assured, however, that there are effective products today for every type of condition.  The main thing is to get help to determine the appropriate treatment for your individual situation.

Can we eliminate hair loss due to heredity?
That depends on who we are dealing with.  Most of the time we can stop hereditary hair loss for our women clients.  Even in the case of male hereditary hair loss, we can slow the balding process down considerably by stimulating the vitality of the scalp and hair.  We can even reactivate hair follicles that have become dormant within the past year.

Dermatologists believe in two prescription treatments, Propecia and Minoxidil.  What is the ROSS view?
In the case of Propecia, we think it effective in some individuals and recommend it in particular for young men, between 18 and 35, for early onset, moderate or advanced hereditary alopecia.  At the same time, however, we recommend supporting the hair growth with topical treatments to increase the diameter and strength of the regrowth.

We rarely advise taking Minoxidil, since the treatment is restrictive. For example.  In the case of sensitive or irritated scalp, we strongly advise against using it.  Prolonged use of Minoxidil, in our experience, requires topical local support for hydrating the scalp and increasing the quality of the regrowth.

Why at ROSS do you examine the hair and make a  diagnosis before advising on treatment?
The examination and diagnosis process allows us to distinguish the root causes from the aggravating factors.  Hair loss is often the result of several factors that reinforce each other.  Suffering from a thyroid condition that creates an androgenetic reason for hair loss, for example, is quite different from a more simple problem related to nutrition, eating habits or stress that contribute to hair loss.  Getting the full picture of the precipitating and root causes is fundamental to the ROSS method.  Our approach is to treat the whole situation, not one symptom.

  Can stress cause hair loss?
Certainly, we know that major psychological stress of any kind (divorce, death of a loved one, even surgery) can cause hair loss.  Individuals may notice sudden massive hair loss at some time after the event.  But daily stress can also contribute to androgenetic hair loss as well.  Hence the importance,  at the time of the diagnosis, of being able to distinguish the precipitating from the aggravating factors.  At ROSS, we treat the problem as a whole, and not just the symptoms.

I have severe hair loss, and have tried many approaches.  What can the ROSS method do for me?
The first thing we do is to check on the state of the hair regrowth.  Does the new hair seem finer than the hair that was lost?  At ROSS we try to explain that the hair loss itself is not always the most important symptom of alopecia that needs attention, but that the new hair must be as healthy, thick and in quantity comparable to the old hair.  If not, you need to find out what is at the root of the problem.  In any case, we advise you not to try “yet another treatment” before finding out what exactly are the reasons your hair is falling out.  The ROSS diagnosis method helps us to just that.

How would the ROSS method be more effective than the treatments I have tried already?   Our effectiveness is directly related to our customized protocol for each individual, based on the analysis of their own hair in the laboratory.  Our approach also allows us to accompany you throughout the duration of your treatment, making modifications as your situation improves.  The ROSS method involves follow-up examinations of the state of the hair bulbs, where the health of your hair can be measured.  We monitor the health of your hair so that we can ensure your treatment evolves with your progress.

  What are your success rates?
We are proud of our success rates at ROSS.  After only four months of treatment against hair loss, more than four out of five of our clients notice a noticeable difference:  a full 85% of our clients observe a significant reduction or the stopping altogether of the hair loss that brought them to us.

How are the ROSS products for hair loss different from others on the market?

The ROSS products are entirely natural, developed by European chemists, and contain the finest concentrated proteins, minerals, and vitamins needed to nourish and renew the hair naturally.

  • Their action takes place at the site of the  life of the hair – right in the root and the hair follicle.
  • They counter the harmful androgenetic effect by blocking the receptors in the hair follicles.
  • ROSS products supply the hair with all the ingredients necessary for scalp health and hair  regrowth.
  • Because they are entirely natural, ROSS products are completely free from side effects.

When does hereditary hair loss begin to be noticeable?
Hereditary hair loss for men can start as young as the end of puberty.  Hereditary hair loss occurring between the end of puberty and age 35 can be severe since the androgenic hormones are particularly active at this time, and have a negative impact on the cells of the scalp.  The hormonal influence wanes from then on, diminishing gradually after around age 40 or 45.

All men expect to lose their hair, don’t they?  So baldness shouldn’t really bother them too much?
Not so!  Studies show that baldness is a disturbing condition for many, many men.  In fact, a large number of men who are bald reveal that it affects how they feel about themselves and their relationships with others.  It seems that baldness is a source of a lack of self-worth, and that men can feel depressed and even turn to professional psychological help to deal with its impact on how they feel about themselves.   So if you are troubled, you are not alone, and you need to know that there is help for hair loss.

  Women don’t lose their hair.
This is a myth!  Women lose their hair in the same proportions as men, but generally experience less hair loss.  When women reach menopause, andro-genogenetic forces contribute to a certain degree of alopecia in women, with about four or five in ten women experiencing some hair loss at this time in their lives. The pattern of female baldness is somewhat different from male baldness.  The loss is usually on the top and the sides of the head, while the loss of hair is more diffuse, covering a larger area than among their male counterparts.  Women tend not to develop bald spots, but rather an overall thinning of the hair.  Female baldness, also related to hormonal changes, occurs at key moments in the life cycle – puberty, childbirth, perimenopause and menopause.
